An aeroplane had to be evacuated at JFK airport after a bomb threat was made on Twitter.

The United Airlines plane, which was taxiing at Terminal 7, needed to be thoroughly searched by authorities before it could take off, following the incident at 7pm on Wednesday.

The message allegedly said there was a bomb on the flight from JFK to Dulles International Airport in Washington DC.

After all 49 passengers on board were searched and the luggage was re-screened.
