Amazing Whitey Bulger documents to be released

Confidential documents which show exactly how notorious Irish serial killer  James ‘Whitey’ Bulger secretly worked for his supposed enemies the FBI are to be released next week.

Terrifying gangster Whitey, who was finally recaptured in 2011 after 16 years on the run, goes on trial for 19 murders this summer.  His incredible story was made into blockbuster movie The Departed, with Jack Nicholson playing the chilling Whitey character.

And a federal judge has decided to release the sensational powder keg documents to Bulger’s current lawyers as they prepare for the notorious gangster’s upcoming trial.

The ruthless boss of South Boston’s Winter Hill Gang, Whitey is said to have made a second income, ratting out his gangland rivals to his handlers in the FBI.

US District Court Judge Mark L. Wolf said he would release the documents just as long as some of the information was redacted to protect witnesses and confidential informants.

Such is the delicate nature of the files, that the judge suggested that anyone who receives the documents should sign an affidavit declaring that they would not share the materials with anyone.

Bulger’s high profile lead lawyer J.W. Carney Jr. insisted that the documents will support Bulger’s claims that he received immunity from prosecution for his crimes in exchange for helping the government as an informant.

“I expect the documents will provide further evidence that James Bulger had a blank cheque to commit any crimes he wanted to in the ‘70s and ‘80s, leading up to the early ‘90s,” Carney said.

Until his arrest in June 2011, Bulger, now 83, was on the FBI’s “Ten Most Wanted” list with a $2 million bounty on his head.

He fled Boston just before he was due to be arrested, following a tip from his corrupt FBI contact, fellow Irishman John Connolly, who is himself currently doing time in jail.

Federal prosecutors have ­reacted angrily to Bulger’s claim of immunity, saying it is “frivolous and ­absurd”.

After numerous reports of sightings of Whitey all over the world, he and his longtime girlfriend Catherine Greig were finally picked up in Santa Monica, California, following the work of the ‘Bulger Fugitive Task Force’ which consisted of FBI Agents and a Deputy US Marshal.
